Choosing an Estate Agent
It is important to pick the right estate agent due to the fact that there is no third party body to regulate the industry, leaving them to be self-regulating. For this reason it is important to look around a bit before you settle with one. It is best to choose those who are members of the NAEA, which stands for the National Association of Estate Agents, of whom ensure that thier members all keep to the code of practice of which they have laid out.
As an estate agent it is there ethical, legal and commercial duty to work in the best interests of thier client, which is the vendor. What this means is that they must try and get the best possible price that they can for the property whilst keeping to the vendor's precise instructions.
If you are buying a property, then the estate agent you are dealing with should be friendly and helpful in order to encourage you to look at the properties they have on offer. they must answer all of your relevant questions that you may have about the property you are enquiring about, that is as long as they are entitled to do so.
